I've done it on the dash of my motorcycle and some people color the LED under the white roller ball of their Blackberrys...works pretty good. Red and Blue seem to stand out the most.

If I was going through the trouble, I would just put in new colored bulbs. The blue would look pretty cool. I would be concerned with the sharpie wearing or burning off or something. Im trying to think, In mine I also think there is a green light over the cupholder? Keep us posted if you do it, and what bulbs you use if you replace them.

If the stock bulbs are white it means the teal color is coming from within the gauge face. That means your resulting color will be teal + whatever you color the bulb.

Keep that in mind before you start coloring bulbs.

Can anyone confirm the color of the bulb on '06? Is the panel colored teal or the bulb?

Checked it out and, yes, the numbers and ticks in the gauges are an opaque teal color. I didn't pull the panel apart yet so I am not sure if the coloring is a seperate sheet that can be plucked off.

So my question is, is this procedure about the same for the 2003 ram 1500? im wanting to replace all my bulbs with blue/white bulbs because i have interior and exterior blue LED/neons and the green panel lights are just throwing it all off

All bulbs are clear. The sharpie trick does work, but the red needles may be dim. They'll be lit, but dim if you use colored bulbs. The led bulbs are part number b 8.5 from Superbrightled.com. There is a teal opaque film behind the white face that is why the numbers are the ugly green from the factory. I will be doing blue leds when I have the money, but for now, the sharpie trick looks a lot better.
