3" body lift for 05
Hello everybody. Recently just purchased my first Dodge and couldn't be happier.
Anyhow, I just purchased a body lift kit for my 05 quad cab ram. I was wondering if thereare any tips
anyone could give me to make this smooth as possible. Will any welding be neccessary? Any metal cutting? I would really appreciate any feedback on the subject. Thanks a bunch!!

Well first off if you have a little bit more money send the body lift back and get a suspention lift instead. You are alot better off like that, and it looks A TON better!
If you are going to stick with the body lift get body fills to cover the frame gap and the bumper gap.

personally i would also reccomend a suspension lift.... body lifts are also harder to put on i dont think you have to weld but i think you need to relocate your bumpers and everything....
Oh, would i love to have a suspension lift! Unfortunately, i still need better clearance and my money tree is all picked over. I went hunting yesterday and clipped my front bumper on a mediocre obstacle. This was frustrating!
I've noticed that some ram owners integrate a suspension lift with their body lift. Maybe in the future i can graduate to something better
If there is no welding involved, are there any specific tools that i would need?

I dida write up on lift options a few weeks ago for someone. Here is the link:

I've done 3 body lifts before my current suspension lift. You'll see when you read the above link how I think they compare. That said, 2 of my body lifts were Performance Accessories lifts. If you got their's and opened the box, you would not need to ask anything about installation. They not only make the most thorough kits, but their documentation is excellent. Bumper lift comes with theirs, but by all means buy the gap guards or you will hate it!

Thanks Hammer, your write-up was very helpful. I did infact order a body lift kit and more than likely will be installing it this weekend. I also read your comments on the T-bar crank. I too would love to have that raised "level" look and could definately used the extra clearance. Given thatI install the body lift kit, would the T-bar crank be overkill on the ride tightness?
It would firm up the front end a lot, too much? You'll have to judge. I think if it were me I'd have to try it though as I hate that nose dive look and a body lift raises everything up the same amount. If it jars your kidneys out, you can always crank them back down and spend a couple hundred on leveling keys later.
