Hey guys, wanted to find out if anyone else here has experienced this problem. On both front doors, the front edge of the door is digging into the door seal when I close it. It's nearly ripped the driver's side all the way through and the passenger side is on its way. Anyone have any insight? I have no idea how this design ended up in production, or if this is just MY truck.

No insight or ideas but can confirm it's happening to my '03 as well. When I first noticed it I thought the same thing, 'what kind of goofy design is this'? I keep mine moist with silicone, but don't really use the truck that much so it hasn't really ripped yet, but can definitely see how it happens.

There is a TSB for this. Your local dealer should upgrade them to the new design

 

They will only replace if you are still in warranty.

Make sure they put on the new design and no the old one. I have them on both my 04 SRT and 05 Hemi, I will snap a pic when I get home so you can see the difference.

 

The new design, I think they started using these in 06 models.

Mine is tearing too. Looks like I need to go to the dealer and see if I can get this new molded rubber seal.

 

FYI.... There is also a TSB on the bottom weather stripping I know atleast on my 04 2500 where it doesn't come up enough on the side and mud, dirt, water gets up past it in the bottom of the door. There is a new design that comes up higher to fix this.

 

TSB 23-049-05 gives p/n's for improved secondary door seals
