Electric Fan's

RE: Electric Fan's
I came across a 16" electric fan at Autozone for $65 this evening. Does anyone think this will work on my ram? Too small? From the look of it I don't think it comes withthermostat to turn on or off at specified temps. Can I buy an electric thermostat separately that I can plug into the radiator vanes to regulate whenthe fan turns on or off?

I would be fairly certain that a 16 inch electric fan that pulls about the typical 30 amps
would cool a 3rd Gen Ram the vast majority of the time in daily driving
if you mounted it inside the stock shroud
just forward of the stock viscous clutch blades,
then removed the blades from the viscous clutch
but left that clutch in place
so that you could re-install the stock blades
for days over 100 degrees or when towing

as long as the flow rate is greater than 3000cfm, from what I have read. A fan comparable to the lincoln MarkVIII would be ideal, flowing at 4200cfm.

My only experience with the MarkVIII e fan is with my 94 Bronco/Lightning conversion. I have never had an overheating probelm in the 3 yrs that I have had it on. They can be had for usually $30-50. I know of some N/AGen1 Lightnings that are running 9-10 sec 1/4 with these fans installed and are not overheating either. For the $$$ this is by far one of the better fans IMO. I am interested to see what I can do to get one mounted into my 08 MC. My .02

What temp switch did you use? Did you get a fixed temp on/off or adjustable? I want to get a fixed on/off, but have more research to do on what temps are recommended for the 5.7 Hemi. After I find that info, time to get to work to build a wiring harness, I don't like/trust the small gauge brands that are on the market. Built the one for my other MarkVIII for under $100 and I have never had a problem with it.
