Leveling kit problems! Need help
I need some help guys... I received my leveling kit today for my 03 1500 4X4. I alsoborrowed a 5 ton two jaw gear puller. Jacked the truck up yada yada and was able to remove the stock key and almostget the new one on.. Now comes the problem I cannot for the life of me get the new one installed (I cant get the holding nut/block in). I can get it close, butthan its like it needs a 10 ton puller.I am not asmall guy (6' 4" 250lbs) andIwas putting mybody into the socket wrench withmy leg. Its just done, almost like its binding up. So what am i doingwrong???DoI need a better gear puller, thereal torsion key remover, or what?Thanksahead for all the help!!
Well I just got them installed, Went to autozone and rented a ball joint remover... Much beefier than the 5 ton puller, I finished installing the one and removed and installed the other in less time than it took me to dissasemble the damn gear puller and put it back in its box. If I woulda had the right tool to begin with installation would have been less that 45 min. Love the way it sits, I will post before and after pics tomorrow.
Getting into situations like that is how I seem to have acquired most of my heavier duty tools. I think I can get away with just pushin' a bit harder, but nope....You'd think after wrenchin' on my own vehicles for almost 20 years, breaking tools, knuckles, andnuts / boltsI'd have learned, but I still end up headed to Auto Zone or Sears cursing the whole way there
My wife has learned that when she see's me with my 4lb hammer and making up new explitives it's time to side track me for the sake of the vehicle (odly, usually hers, my good 'ol trucks never seem to give me the fits her cars do)...Anyhow, I think your in good company on this board, tons of experience and great folks to vent to or get advice from...good job on the kit, I know folks are interested in the pic's...
