Switched from Ford to Dodge...see how long I last
I have owned Ford's all my life, most recent was the 7.3L powerstroke...great truck. Today I bought a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 QCLB 4WD. It had 91000 miles on it and I got it for $12K. Good deal? I thought so. The Hemi has some power to it, but damn does the gas mileage SUCK!!! Any ideas on some better gas mileage? On the counter side of it, what about more power? What are some cheaper mods to add in just to start with? Thanks

Glade to see ya on the dodge side, but why did you move from a diesel truck to a gas one. Unfortunately, you migth be disapointed, I do own a hemi but if the numbers would of been rigth, the cummins would be in my back yard!!! Best of luck.
Yea, it's a little unfair compairing a Ford Diesel to a Hemi. A Cummins would leave you thinking the Ford was bad underpowered.
Basic's for the Hemi are cat-back exhaust, CAI, & tuner in that order...

+1 with what hammer said. By the pics it looks like you have none of these. Can't tell about the tuner, but I think it is safe to assume that no exhaust means no tuner....
so I looked for that flowmaster 50 series, is it just the actual muffler piece, not a whole setup? If it is, its pretty cheap and if that can help the HP and GAS MILEAGE OR LACK OF IT, I"m down...thanks again guys. I will say you dodge guys are a lot faster responding than the ford guys on their forum site.
I'm also a ex Ford guy, new to Dodge, one area dodge is really behind Ford is the quality of paint and body assembly, but I will never ever go back to Ford, my 5.7 hemi in a 06 2500 Ram gets Far better mileage than the 04 5.4 F-150 P use to own ( 95 97 and 02 F-150 ) and has an abundance of power and mecanicals has held up excellant.
The best truck going would be a ford with a dodge power train.
Gas to diesel is never a far camparison and your driving the a heavy 3/4 ton with a gas engine and camparing it to a 3/4 diesel, no matter who makes it, diesel is a better chioce when you can aford it and have a use for it.
Dual ex will help with mileage, switch to syn oil use midgrade, all this helps me pull up to 22mpg high way, but I have a 6sp manual, reg cab 4x4, dual ex and a topper.
