4.7 Tachometer reads LOWER than ACTUAL
I have an 05 Q.C. 4x4 with a 4.7. It has 34000 miles. I'm still in warranty. When I come to a stop in gear(doesn't matter with a/c or heat on or off), my tach will almost always drop down real low. I'm talking about it dropping to about 200-350 rpms. It feels like its idleing low, but not that low. That would be low enough to sputter & stall. I hooked up my scanner, and it shows an actual rpm of about 570 rpm. I just got raped at the dealer when I brought it in. I told him exactly what I decribed here, and also told him that I just did a tune-up with factory parts at 30,000,, and a throttle-body cleaning(without removal). They had my truck all day long, did the usual-never call B.S. I go to pick it up at the end of the day, and they said the truck is in desperate need of a tune-up, and the throttle-body is all carboned up. He wanted to charge me $95 diag fee. Well, needless to say,
I flipped a little. I asked if they even looked at the truck. When he said "What do you mean?", I reminded him of the work that was done just 4,000 miles before this, and he said you have to take the TB off, and clean it from the backside. Regardless.........I ended up paying $50 diag(for nothing),
and writing a letter to the Serv Mgr.....There will be more on that later.
For now, this is not meant to become a dealer-bitch post, but I need help. Is there a problem here? Is this normal?(I would think not).
I have no check engine lights, and no fault codes stored. What can I do?
P.S. I work at a VW dealer, and they clean the TB's all day without actually taking them off. Maybe I need to, but sounds like B.S.

I have an '06 with the 4.7 which I bought new, and mine did that starting around 500 miles. I don't know if the TB has anything to do with it or not, but I bought a power wire at about 7000 miles, and the problem went away.

The power wire is a performance part sold by AIR RAM on his site:

it tells your pcm that the temp is 20 degrees colder than the actual temp and gives you 8-10 RWHP. I haven't dyno'd it for that claim, but my "butt dyno" says it did increase the HP, and it definitely smoothed out my idle.

I saw the info about the Power Wire yesterday and went after work to pick one up. It works great!! I also purchased the Jet Stream Scoop. I noticed better response and better gas mileage. I would highly recomend this Mod.... Nick was even nice enough to install the parts and explained everything about the parts.. Great Service!!!
