Default GCWR?

I've looked on my door sticker and in my glove box and can't find a GCWR rating.

I went to Dodge's site and for my configuration (Quad cab, 4.7L, auto, 4X4, 3.9 ratio) two values are listed. The only difference between the two is the payload rating and I can't find that either.

I have e-mailed Dodge requesting my build sheet.

Here's the source of my confusion. The 3.92 axle is listed twice: http://www-5.dodge.com/towing5/D/veh...c+Transmission

With 3.92 Axle Ratio Axle Ratio [i] You Can Tow 6050 lbs

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) [i] = 6650 lbs
Payload [i] = 1324 lbs
Curb Weight [i] = 5326 lbs
Curb Weight Front/Rear = 3076 lbs/3076 lbs
GAWR Front/Rear [i] = 3900 lbs/3900 lbs
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) [i] = 11500 lbs

With 3.55 Axle Ratio Axle Ratio [i] You Can Tow 6100 lbs[/b]

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) [i] = 6650 lbs
Payload [i] = 1375 lbs

GAWR Front/Rear [i] = 3900 lbs/3900 lbs
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) [i] = 11500 lbs

I have nothing to back this theory but it looks like the first 3.92 is a typo.

while we are talking about gears, how much does it cost to upgrade to say a 3.92 or 4.10?

Actually, I wonder if the first one is for a 4wd models and the second for 2wd even though they're both listed under 4wd.

that is to small of a jump to justify the cost... maybe if you went with 4.56's it would be worth it.... it aint cheap though.. especially for a 4x4

I think I figured out the two different ratings for the 3.92 ratio. Judging from the charts on this page the 20" wheels make the difference: http://dodgeram.info/2003/load-tow/1500.html

Man this is confusing. I looked up my truck and pretty much get the same thing. There is an infamous equipment identification sticker which is suppose to tell you what your axle ratio is butI cant even find it on my truck and I bought it new. Wherethe heck is it? You will see the 3.92 is listed twice again for a 2005 model below.

2005 dodge ram 1500 pickup 1500 SLT, QUAD CAB, 2WD, 6.25 FT Bed, 5-Speed Automatic 545RFE Transmission, 4.7L Magnum(R) V8 Engine:

With 3.92 Axle Ratio Axle Ratio [i] You Can Tow 6350 lbs

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) [i] = 6650 lbs
Payload [i] = 1672 lbs
Curb Weight [i] = 4978 lbs
Curb Weight Front/Rear = 2938 lbs/2938 lbs
GAWR Front/Rear [i] = 3700 lbs/3900 lbs
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) [i] = 11500 lbs

With 3.55 Axle Ratio Axle Ratio [i] You Can Tow 6450 lbs[/b]

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) [i] = 6650 lbs
Payload [i] = 1740 lbs
Curb Weight [i] = 4910 lbs
Curb Weight Front/Rear = 2910 lbs/2910 lbs
GAWR Front/Rear [i] = 3700 lbs/3900 lbs
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) [i] = 11500 lbs

Look in your glove box for the equipment sticker.

See above for the different GCWR ratings for 3.92. Looks like 20" wheels cost you 1,000 pounds tow rating.

I cleaned out my glove compartment looking for it and its not there. Can you explain to me how 3" bigger wheels cost a person 1,000 pounds of tow rating?
