Brakes Question...

Default Brakes Question...

I see alot of trucks with the brakes( the part that you can see from the rims. either painted or replaced. Its the part that shows from the rim. i would like to either paint mine or is it easier to replace that part.Any suggestions

You mean the caliper? I would think paint unless you're looking to upgrade them. An engine enamel should work, and recomended due to the high heat generated by normal braking.

the part you see is the caliper. probably could be painted, if you replaced them you might as well upgrade the break system, wont be cheap to replace. As for the replacement, not too bad.

I would have them Powder coated. They arepowder coated black from the factory, Any powder coating company can stip the factory color and re-powder coat almost any color you can imagine.

Powder coating is far stronger, andmore heat resistantthan any paint you can buy. If you want it to last spend the money and get em powder coated. Powder coating isn't as expensive as most think.

As everyone else said, if you are going to replace them just for color, you might as well upgrade them while your at it.

The last brake caliper upgrade I saw was around $1200, powder coat for my 3000GT was $80 and I knew the guy.A can of high temp engine paint $4.56. oh by the way, mine are victory red. and I only paid $4.56 for all four wheels

Ipainted my in the past ( different vehicle ) and they turned out just fine . Use a high heat paint and you will be fine .

yea you do in fact of have three options... the cheapest is to get brake caliper paint i believe VHT makes some..... your next option which is the one i reccomend the most is powdercoating..... and you could always upgrade but thats WAY expensive... its your carll and whatever you do take pics!!!

I have painted calipers in the past with a product from the Eastwood Company. It brushed on and was self leveling. Made to withstand the heat of the calipers, worked very well.

I've painted a lot of calipers. It generally is the cheapest way to make your calipers shine. However, I have kind of considered some sort of powder coat process now....
