I hesitate to touch such a hot button issue as a new guy but something else to keep in mind is refinery capacity.

We haven't opened a new reifinery since the late 1970's. Gasoline is a commodity driven by supply and demand. Our refineries are having to use some capacity to make heating oil now tightening the supply of gasoline.
Why would they build any new refineries? To get gas prices way down for them?

A prius gets better mileage than twice what we do, last I checked it's actually better than 3 times what we get. I can deal with $3.00 gas, when it gets much higher than that is when I will start looking into alternative methods of transportation......may be getting a bike.
