HEMI BURNS OIL?
HEY GUYS I JUST DID AN OIL CHANGE TWO DAYS AGO AND BEFORE DOING IT I CHECKED MY OIL AND IT WAS VERLY INTO THE SAFE PIECE OF THE MEASURING STICK. ALMOST ASKING TO TO HAVE SOME ADDED. I HAVE NOT SPOTTED ANY LEAKS AND I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS SEEING ANYTHING SIMILAR IN THEIR TRUCK? I JUST BROKE 54K. AND YES I MEASURED IT HOT ALTHOUGH I DID NOT GIVE ALOT OF TIEM FOR THE OIL SETTLE DOWN.
Another good question by stratusguy. How many miles between the change and what kind of oil? Your truck is going to burn a little bit of oil between changes, so it will come down to how many miles you put on between the changes. I run Mobil 1 and change around 6000 to 8000 miles and I am always short about 1 quart to a quart and a half, but I also run the crap out of my truck. Hard and fast!!!!!
Wow guys, thats crazy, every car ive ever owned has burned oil (1 quart between changes) except my 2 current ones. 03 hemi w/ 186k and my 00 lexus gs 300 w/ 120k. Both do not lose a drop that I can physically see. Using Mobil 1 synthetic in the truck and blend in car.
I don't see any appreciable oil loss between changes. Only 38k miles on it though, so I really don't expect to see it lose any yet.
I had two GM 5.3L V8's, one in a '00 Z71 1500 and the other in an '02 Avalanche Z71, both burned almost exactly a quart every 3k oil change from the first oil change on...
