Default 04 Dodge Ram Overheating?????

I change out my thermostat which help the problem. Just now it only he5ats up on the highway. I can drive around the city and it's fine but after about 15 mins on hwy doing about 65-70 it heats up above normal. It gets about three quarters of the way up the gauge and then it just sits around there, but once I get off the hwy it cools down again. Any suggestions? I have 04 dodge 1500 4.7 Liter V8

Maybe you installed it backwards (I did this and had the same symptoms)

If you did not install the thermo backwards it could be the radiator.

We put the thermostat back in the way the old way came out. Yes it was overheating no matter what with the old thermostat in there. It ran good for the first day but as soon I got on the hwy it heated up above normal but never goes to the red line. Once I got off the hwy it ran fine.

Now that is odd.

I would completely flush the system. When doing it remove the lower hose, it allows a much better opening for the flush. Beyond that water pump not pumping to capacity.

The 4.7s are known for overheating, I went thru hell and back with mine.
