Default noise from the rear

ok, my buddy has an 05 ram 1500 hemi QC 4x4.

when in reverse and particularly uphill, there is some sort of noise almost like the gears are binding up. like the teeth are sliping its weird. His last truck went through 2 complete axles swaps (warrenty) a year ago. This noise is different than the last time so im just looking for some insight. also the dealer had it today and they could hear the noise. HELp

Have you had the rear diff fluid changed recently?

If you have the anti-spin (check the sticker inside your glove box) they might have forgotten the friction modifier.

What did the dealer have to say? I'd think it's either dif or tranny.

Have you searched the forum for "c-clip failure/disasters"? I would see if the dealer could warranty it or like others had said add some LSD additive fluid.

You said the dealer could hear the noise, what did they tell you it was?
