Default help

what's up fellas? new guy here. ihave a 2002 ram quad cab with 125,000 miles. i have done no maintenance to my truck outside of oil changes and need to give my engine a tune up. my truck has been idling at higher rpms than normal and while in idle, it goes from 800 to 1200 up and down. if anyone has info on tune up basics such as spark plugs, spark plug wires, coils, yada yada. if any other suggestions as to what needs to be changed and where to buy the parts, i would appreciate it greatly. thanks for responding.

Wow, have the plugs ever been changed?? Truck abuse!

Start with the basics,

Plugs
Wires
Air cleaner (I hope your air cleaner does not have 100K on it)
PVC
Concentrated Fuel cleaner (should be done at each oil change on older cars)
Not that it will help this but also flush the coolant system.

If you still get the strange idle consider a TPS and cleaning the TB.

Is the check engine light on?

For sure, clean the throttle body (search, just had a very good how to posted). do plugs, wires.

my .02 is careful with the fuel cleaner. On my jeep that only made my problems worse.

That would be a good idea, no need to put plastic tubing in there

Yep clean the fuel system and throttle body then go from there . If it has a funny idle could be a vacuum leak

All done, running great. Post in SRT-10 section has the pics.

As for the Bucks, they will not play in the championship game and given the QB issue in Oregon will probably win the Rose Bowl.
