Default Variable displacement light

I just bought a 2007 Ramm 1500 hemi with the varible displacment fuel saving feature.

I also just bought a 2008 Commander with the same engine and feature.

The commander has a "fuel saver" light that comes on when the variable displacement is ingaged.

Can any tell me how I could hook up a small LED to my truck to give me the same driver feedback?

Is it possible to change the setting and duration of the varible displacemnt?

Several posts in the Chrysler section. You have to tap into the relay leg that turns something off. Sorry to be so vague. Haven't read the posts in a while. Many people have installed a small LED somewhere on the instrument panel to show the MDS in operation. Don't think you can change the parameters of the system.

I dont understand why you would want this light flashing on and off all the time on your dash . I think that would drive me nuts

With a catback you won't need a light

My idea with the light (small LED) is give myself some feedback so 'I can adjust my driving to keep it on as much as possible. Unless I have the pedal matted to the floor! ( which I do on tooo many occations)

I found when driving my JeepI could make theMSD coe on during a falt stretch by letting off the pedal just a little. Then it would stay on even during slight accerations. I could notfeel any difference inengine without thefeedback.

A catback is exhaust from the cats back....the exhaust tone changes when MDS kicks on.

I saw a thread about this on another forum. Basically you have to tap into the main wire harness. It is not worth it to me, just another reason to deny a warranty claim.

Regarding changing the calibration to make the MDS stay on longer, that is going to be very difficult. You will have to either crack the ECU, or find someone who has and is interested in making a new code flash that enables the MDS in greater amounts. Basically it probably won't happen.
