No, he means electric water pump. I've heard of some people doing this on small cars. I don't know if you can find one big enough for a V8 though.

Although he could very well mean fan I guess. I just checked and jegs actually carries some for BB and SB chevys. Who knew? Not sure what you'd have to do because of the drive belt though. Mount a pulley that doesn't run anything I guess.

Good point, some vehicles have a different path when there's no A/C. Maybe the tensioner could deal with it?

electric water pumps are usually used in racing applications. in my years of racing (about 1989-1996) i never used one. the only real benefit is it doesn't take as much power from the engine as its one less pulley the motor has to spin. they don't usually keep the motor any cooler or more efficient just frees up a couple of HP. i really don't see where you would benefit from it and you certainly won't feel it in the seat of the pants. also i don't believe they are recommended for the street.
i think moroso makes them. maybe weiand or edelbrock also. i'd check with them buti don't think thats a route you want to go.

I think you would be money better spent going after an electric fan rather than water pump. I have no doubt you'd have to design it yourself, and custom fabricate for minimal power gain. The fan mod is already out there, and some dyno results to verify power power increase. Do a search here on the forum.

You might consider removing the fan altogether, changing coolant to this stuff from Evans Engineering: http://www.evanscooling.com/ and running a separate temp gauge.

Electric water pumps are nort reliable for everyday street use. Even the manufacturers of the recomend them for mostly racing applications and occasional street use. I know a TON of guys running hot street cars, and this is one mod almost none of them will tough.
