I also only drive about 5 miles to work , then spend 8 to 10 hrs then 5 miles back home. So I need to tell my wife I have to start taking long rides after work. Just for the good of my truck of course. LOL.....

 

Same here. My previous job was lotsa short trips. Those short trips and too few oil changes cost me a 5.2L in a '95 Ram Wagon. This job is one short one, twice a day. Frequent oil changes and a few "long" trips on I-10 should hopefully burn some of that nasty stuff off.

 

On a side note: If you have a 4.7 with this issue, make sure the PCV passage in the oil fill tube stays clear and clean. If not, it can block up.

I changed my oil yesterday, and sure enough: Tan mayo type crap. Changed the PCV, cleaned up the goop and added new oil.

No effect to the oil that I drained. No loss of antifreeze. Checked with my dealership to make sure and it's normal.

 

It's called milkshake.
