Default speaker sizes

Anyone know for sure what size speakers are in a 03 reg cab 1500? Crutchfield says 6x9 in the doors and 5-1/4 behind seat. The behind seat size says none fit directly but the 5-1/4 will fit. Anyone do this? The door size just doesnt seem right since it looks like a round speaker is there. It would be nice since i have some new 6x9 and 5-1/4 speakers i could use already. Just wanted to see if that site was right before i tore into it. Thanks in advance

They are 6x9 and 5 1/4. I have looked, the door panel just has the round opening for looks. behind the seat you can put the next size up speakers (can't remember the size) but you'll only be able to get two screws in, I have done this and got a little rattle at high bass high volume, but it was fixed wit a bit of two sided foam tape.

Also, the trim panels can be removed and replaced without taking out the tray.

Its a bit of a task, but pull gently and take it slow. I found it easier to work on the rears while sitting in the tray, then again I like confined space rescues. lol. Once ya get going and get the first one done it really moves on. Good luck smoke.

Thanks for all the info. Im 6'3 so i dont know if i can sit in the tray. lol. Im going to get started here shortly so im hoping it goes smoothly. Only thing im worried about is i cant find the speaker plugs anywhere. So im going to have to have to solder the wires so the speakers. But it shouldnt be a problem. Thanks again.

What kind of factory system do you have? If you have the 7 speaker Infinity system, the factory amp only sends lows to the door speakers, so putting in a full range 6x9 may even make it sound worse, depending on your speaker you use.

Nahh its nothin that fancy. Just 4 speakers and the factory cd player. Ive got the pioneer 3 ways. So it should make a nice difference. Ive had them for a couple years now. Never been used. I bought them for a car i had and actually sold the car before i had even gotten the speakers. Really spur of the moment sale there. lol. So it will be nice just to be able to use these speakers. Thanks for the info guys.
