Cruise definately doesn't help fuel economy unless you are going down hill for many miles.

My guess is that you'd see a drastic increase in fuel economy if you set your cruise control or right foot to about 70mph or less rather than 74-76mph. For me it seems like MDS kicks in all 8 cylinders somewhere around 75mph when cruising on a flat stretch of freeway.

At a steady 60 mph on a level highway
with less than 5 mph of wind coming from ahead or side
and stock factory tires at 36 psi
a MDS 5.7 V8 4x4 Ram should be able to get 22 mpg
if everything is 'healthy'
even with winter blend gasoline.

MPG will be slightly higher than 22
if wind is at the rear
or if the highway pavement is concrete instead of blacktop.

In city driving
the average of 3 or more tanks
should give about 14 MPG or better.

What I have started to do with my CC is when coming to a hill I will hit the accel button 2-3 times - so pcik up another 2-3 mph and then while going up the hill I will hit the decel button 2-4 times - it keeps it at a steady RPM without downshifting. It definetly helps.

haha hellbilly. I find it strange that you had such a large decrease, but then again, pickups in general are never supposed to get very good mileage

I get just under 14 with daily driving. Mostly 2 lane highways, with some lights. But my heavily modded beast is heavy, the scales at the local waste management has me just a shade under 7000 lbs. with just me in it plus my toolbox has at least 200 lbs. of off-road recovery stuff and welding equipment in it. Being an '04 I also don't have MDS to help the MPG's.
Over-all, I'm pleased with the fuel economy with the suspension lift and 35's plus winch, grille & brush guards, etc. weighing me down...

With my '04 Ram Hemi (4X2 QC), I would get around 14 mixed driving and around 17 highway. I got almost 15 with my new one mixed driving and I think it should be around 18+ on the highway. Hand calc and O/H comuter are nearly the same. My O/H on my diesel was always about 3mpg on the high side. I have less than 500 miles on my '08.

I get about 15-16 in city and about 23-24 on the highway....2wd single cab 17" wheels. What's the best way to use the overhead computer for mpg? Like today coming home from work I reset it going 65 on the highway for around 15 miles...it showed about 24mpg. If I don't reset it it'll only slowly climb up from the city mpg I had earlier...do you guys reset yours a lot?
