Default 06 Ram -Wheel Bearings-please read

Seems to me a serious safety issue
my post from another forum

tuesday- 4:30pm
Guys, I HATE this truck.
The passenger FR wheel bearing just
blew out on me, on my drive home.
luckily i was only doing 40 mph, the truck started thumping
and then veered right off the road.

I just called the chrysler svc#, and their coming to
tow the truck to the dealer, again.

they told me my truck was not part of the wheel bearing
recall---- BULL SH-T

if i was on the highway, there would have been an accident.

if your 06 ram 1500 4x4, has not had the bearings replaced
get it done ASAP- it is a serious safety issuewednesday 8 amwell, its 8am next morning
and chrysler road side assitance still
has not picked up the truck.

im glad this happened right by my house.

They really need to get their sh-t toge

Both front wheel bearingsshot on my 03 Ram 4x4 / front wheel ABS. Under 30,000 miles. Approx1 year out of warranty. Passenger sideseperated causing a tow situation. Driver side was causing a vibration. Paid dealer $1000.00 for repairs plus $300.00 to get my trailer towed home!To this day still ticks me off.

I am used to pulling front wheels every year to check bearings on trucks. Don't these trucks have the lifetime sealed units?

Anyhow, bearing play is easy to find with nothing more than a floor jack and 10 minutes of time...

They official comment in the star database regarding the recall for the wheel bearings was that some that were manufactured during a certain window of time did not have enough grease in them. They check to see if you qualify for the recall by checking a stamp or marking on the wheel hub itself. However, I'm sure most have a layer of rust over them, as mine did, so they will replace it anyway.

It is not only the 06's that have this problem i have replaced my wheel/hub bearings 4 times in the last five years. Granted my truck is lifted but i replaced them once before i lifted it in 2003. i just wish someone made a heavyduty hub for our trucks. Mine fail prematurely due to four wheelin' it so often. Yes they are supposed to be a sealed bearing but i some how manage to get mud and water inside of mine!!I am lucky i am a mechanic because i get used hubs off of wrecked trucks through my work. i only pay $77.00 a piece for the used ones opposed to $265.00 brand new from chrysler and they are OEM parts!! If you guys get a chance checkout WWW.JCAUTOPARTS.COM this website has used parts as well as OEM surplus parts!!!

My 06 was in the recall.. and mine went bad before they were recalled.. but did not happen like yours so i don't think yours would be in the recall.. mine started with a real quiet tick like something was rattling around.. then turned into a slight squeak then it started to sound like a dieing cat the screaches were so bad, yet it would drive fine.. but i drove it straight to the dealer.
