hello ,im new to owning dodge trucks ,this is what im looking at a 2002 dodge ram 2500 with a 360automatic trans. 4x4 quad cab with long box .has a new trans in it with warranty ,the question is what should i look for when buying one of these trucks .im on a limited budget so i cant fix it ,if some thing major goes wrong. by the way it has 197000 miles on it and the a/c doesnt work .i heard these trucks have alot of issues ...just dont want to not make a huge mistake , any help would be greatly appreiciated....

with close to 200 000 miles, I wouldn't dare touch it. Sure the tranny's been changed, but what about the rest. What was the maintenance done and intervals. I've always been told not to touch a truck with over 75 000 miles on it unless its a bargain. I would expect some major repairs at that mileage. If you do know the history of the truck, then it migth be a different story!!!

with almost 200k , an engine rebuild will be on the agenda down the road. With the replaced tranny, thats a plus but the sheer amount of mileage would keep me from buying this truck. Not just on the motor, but the bearings, differentials, axles, driveshafts, u-joints, etc. Too much for my blood.

$6500 sounds good.

If you deduct the cost of rebuilding the rest of the drivetrain from it.
