Window mount works best, dodge has pleanty of dc spots which makes for less cord mess. If you live in a hot area make sure you put the mount on when the vehicle is in direct sunlight and the car interior is hot, if you put in on when its cold at night more than likely there will still be enough air in the suction cup that the days heat will cause it to expand. Trust me I live in south texas where it can get over 100 and right now its below freezing, go figure.

Further more the 08 built in gps is not as impressive as other models as the screen is far too small. Plus if you fly somewhere and take a rental vehicle isnt that when you need the gps the most not for driving in the city you live in. And before you reply about how remote your hunting place is, you should have a handheld gps with elevation maps built in, not a Factory nav system.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 660. The dash mount works quite well. I had it on the window mount, but 6 month later, I lost all suction. Now I have my Passport 8500 where the GPS was. [sm=lildevil.gif]

Just splice into the cigarette lighter cables. I have done this with my sirius, and if I ever want to remove it from permanent install, I just have to solder the cigarette lighter adapter back on. Just be sure to leave along enoughwire on the cigaretteportion to workwithlater. This works great, and I am still able to use my lighter with no problems. Haven't even blown a fuse. Plus, I think if I remember correctly, you can get to that part of the dash by removing a single screw and pulling the bezel off...It is as easy as using those little blue splicers...Then run the cable to wherever you decide to mount it.

I have the nuvi350 like some of you guys. I just mounted the included windshield suction cup right below the rear view mirror. Surprisingly it does not block my view at all... and its convenient since it is right where I look up anyways. I like it in the middle because its nice that my gf in the passenger seat can control it if I need her to. I love this thing!

Another good reason to not cut the plug on the Garmin's CLA is that it contains a voltage transformer! I forget exactly what the output is, but it's not 12V.

I'm also looking to "hard-wire" my Garmin Nuvi 250W. I just bought a second power cord for this purpose today. I'm curious about the best (switched) accessory power source. My power outlets all seem to be unswitched (i.e. always on), which is fine for stuff like charging cell phones, but I'd prefer to have the Garmin power off when I remove the key.

The owner's manual for my 2006 1500 QC Laramie says I can see my dealer about making my power outlets switched, but I don't know if that means they can change one independently of the others, or if they all have to go onto a switched circuit (which I wouldn't want, of course.)

Has anyone done this? What might be the best route for the cable down into the top of the dash (a defogger vent?), and then what might be the best source of switched accessory power for the Garmin? I'm sure someone else out there has done this with an '06 or later. Right?

Cheers,
P

I have a garmin and after placing the mount in different areas i found that in the lower left-hand side of the front windshield is a nice spot. Its within easy reach and yet does not block my driving view. Another spot that I don't mind is at the top left-hand corner of the windshield.
