Default Fog Lights

Ok I just bought a brand new SLT 07 Dodge Mega Cab with the 6.7L diesel motor. It didn't come with the fog light option though. So I ordered the MOPAR fog light add in kit. It came with the Fog Lights, Harness w/Relays & fuses, and Switch. The switch is the problem though. I don't want an aftermarket Toggle switch to control the fog lights. I went and bought a factory fog/Head light switch to control the lights. I have three wires coming into the cab of the truck with the harness installed. Can I just plug one of those wires into the new switch and make them work like factory lights ? I figure one wire is hot, one is ground, and the other the lillumination wire but I'm not sure. Any ideas guys ? I've read a couple of the fog light post but none of them cover the use of a factory switch.

I do have a harness behind the driver's side fog light that I might be able to plug into with the right cable..... Not sure if it's for fog lights or not. I figure if it is then I would have to pop in some fuses and a relay to make it work and maybe the wiring in the switch is already correct?

Take it all back and order part # 82209047, this kit has the stuff to install fogs that makes it look like your truck came with fogs factory installed. No relays, no toggle switch. It comes with 2 lights, 2 light bezels and a new headlight switch and a jumper wire. Is installed in 15 minutes. Only drawback is that the dealer has to program the truck for fogs. Call or PM me for complete details.....

That is the way to go. Keep it looking factory installed and no "mickey mouse" set ups. Red

Get the mopar kit off ebay for existing wiring. There should be a harness on the drivers side kinda by your bumper, then you just replace the factory headlight switch with the new one included with this kit. Its exactly the same as factory but it pulls out for the fog lights. This is what i did with my truck.

program the truck for fogs.
Had no idea there was programming required for that. I was planning to do fogs for either birthday or Chirstmas next year.

Along the same lines is it possible to use different lights and run them off the factory harness and switch. In my experience most factory fogs are lacking in brightness.

I may be wrong, but the programing should only be to tell your computer you have them, so if you switch to high beams, they will turn off. On my 06 qcthe fog lights button is in the same button as my lights, but you just push it like the radio button.
