Bought a 2008 1500 and it came with auto 4wd.

the other day I picked it up from the service department and the guy had left it in auto 4wd, we had some ice and snow here so no big deal.

Question is: can I leave it in A4WD all the time (except summer)? does it really matter? is it good or bad to run it in A4WD?

 

Ok, So I broke down and read the manual... looks like 4wd auto is fine, may lose gas mileage but will be ready for the slippery road.

 

I had an '02 Avalanche with auto 4wd and although I didn't leave it in it and opted for 2wd for normal driving, the manual said the same thing, is fine all the time but you may see a slight drop in fuel economy.
I did leave it there when it was raining though, you never no when you could hit a slippery spot or some standing water...

 

this was also an option on explorers... great for rainy conditions but on a sunny day.. no need...
