So my MPG just shot up
Ok. normaklky I get 15MPG driving to work.. I got a tonneau cover and noticed it went up to about 16. not bad. got my oil changed the other day and now I'm getting 19-20 MPG. Do you think that cold weather might have anything to do with this??????? I was pulling 20.5 the other day...
Well, you have a lot of things stacking right now. Cold Weather, Fresh Oil, and Tonneau. Most importantly, your probably driving better. A lot of MPG gains are psycological, your subconsiously modding your driving habits to make your improvments pay off. It's how acetone, tornado's etc get people saying they work.
I would imagine you will see it drop back to normal very soon, although your Tonneau should actually increase your mileage by 1 or 2 mpg, but i cant imagine 5mpg..
just my .02 though.

Reset your PCM and continue to keep your foot off it a little so the PCM can re-learn your better driving habits and adjust accordingly and your mpg's will shoot up even higher...
Yea I know I thought maybe It was psycological too.... but I haven't changed my habits at all. I normally reset my trip computer everytime I get gas. .. I have about 11000 miles. I know my 04 ram improved MPG fter about 10,000. the real test will be in a few weeks during x-mas. 400 mile trip. so I'll see what happens then.... But resetting the PCM how do I do that?? I'm curious... Yes and wen I did first get the truck, I did have a tendancy to drive with a lead foot (but hey, gotta learn what it can and can't do).. I know people ate MDS, but if it is helping, I love it. I had a V-6 in my last ram, and I definantly get better MPG now than then...
same thing happend with my dad....was getting about 14.5 mpg and got a cover and it went up to 14.9 (its not a huge difference but hes also been doing more driving around town lately)
Here's a link to an article about bed covers and the gas you save.

Hey, USNFirefighter, how durable would you say this cover is? Im really considering getting one eventually, I wouldnt want it if it can crack/break easily though if something were to drop on it somehow.
