Last night when I came out of the woods from deer hunting and got in my truck, the ignition key will not turn. The key goes in fine (meaning feels normal) but will not turn forwards or backwards. I've tried turning the steering wheel, played with the gear shift, rocked the entire truck back and forth etc to no avail. I even had two other people try it just to make sure I hadn't lost it for a little bit. Any ideas?

I squirted graphite dust into the key hole and tapped the key a dozen times with a rubber mallett (found this tip online referring to Dodge vans) and finally got the key to turn. Its still very sticky but it will turn now with a few aggressive jiggles.

I guess Dodge still hasn't fixed a very old problem of theirs.

 

Did you have your foot on the brake pedal?

 

Sounds like you need to have new tumblers installed in the cylinder or be taken apart to check for damage.Is really easyto take apart Let me know if you need directions on taking it out and apart......

 

is it all the way in park? is it still in the woods? how did u move it? wrecker?what happened the suspense is killing me!
