Default A kick as I apply the brakes and am coming to a stop...

i am experiencing a kick when i apply the brakes and am nearing a stop. not exactly right before coming to a complete stop, but just before it. usually occurs in probably 2 or 3 out of every 10 times i apply the brakes to slow down.

the frustrating part is that i took it in and they drove it around and couldn't duplicate it. so i took them for a drive and i couldn't duplicate it. it has been raining the past couple of days and maybe that has something to do with it. even better, when i drove it back home after they said that there wasn't much that they could do, i experienced that kick 3 times.

i swear i am not crazy...my wife, sister, and brother-in-law have all felt it and heard it. it feels like it is coming from the front.

anyone ever experience this or have any input on what the problem might be and what i can do about it. truck only has 16k on it with plenty of warranty.

Check for a warped rotor, a long time Chrysler ailment...

My first thought is to check the brake system. It could be a warped rotor as Hammer suggests or maybe a loose/stuck caliper. Have you done anything at all to the wheels lately? New tires, rotation anything where they were removed? Rotors that are not flush could cause what you describe. Also, recommend you download the factory service manual for your truck. hemitruckclub.com has it on the home page. It has a great troubleshooting guide and step by step solutions. Keep us updated on how it goes, especially if you find the problem.

i checked that website for the manual but can't seem to find it. the truck is not a hemi, but not sure if that matters for the site. haven't had anything done to the truck since i bought it, they even did a certification inspection on it a week or so ago, (probably a waste of money, but whatever...)

i am about to put a 4" CST lift on it with wheels and tires and i am wondering if i should get this taken care of before installing everything. thoughts?

I'd say go ahead with the lift and check/tighten everything underneath as you go. For FSM, it's on the HTC website on the far left side under the girl w/shorts shot, can't miss it. The manual is for hemis but other systems are the same for a 4.7.

i checked out that manual and couldn't really pinpoint anything. might have to just wait it out. drove around today with it being dry and only had a minor experience; not as loud and not as much kick. maybe it will go away after i put the lift kit, wheels, and tires on.
