Default quick question about exhaust cutout

I have a 2005 Ram...my question is this: if i get one exhaust cutout about 6-10 inches in front of the muffler, will it be louder? and will it in any way improve performance? I am looking at a QTP 3" non-electric cutout on e-bay for about $40...worth it? I have a dumped si/do exhaust now and it's pretty loud, but I want more. Thanks for any help guys!

It will definitely be louder since it would be bipassing the mufller and 2 exhaust pipes. It may have a small increase in power. I personally wouldn't do it, but it's your choice. Your better off switching over to headers and true duals for louder sound.

it will be a lot louder over stock exhaust. Compared to your current setup, it's hard to tell. I have one after my y pipe in front of the stock exhaust. The gain over stock exhaust is about 13 hp.

I went with straight pipe replacing the muffler and left one resinator on ... I love the sound of it!!

can anyone else chime in that has only 1 cutout or could convince me, realistically, to buy another one because of some kinda performance/sound gain?

the performance with two mounted before the cats is about 5-10 hp better than having one after the cats, but its' louder with one after the cats for some reason.
