Lowering questions
Heyall just emailing from the desert since I have all of this free time I get to think up things to do to my "Brandie" when I get home. I was wondering what is the best lowering kit to put on her. I just want about a 2/4 drop and get a better performing andhandling truck. I want to get a set of SRT-10 rims and tires I love how they look. But I'm open to the pros and cons of the 22's" vs the 20's" This will be a mostly a road running truck so any and all suggestions will help. I also like the body kits on from both the SRT-10 and the Rumble Bee. I've got other ideas too.
Stay cool everyone and thanks for the help. H-
Honestly ..there is a forum I am on when it comes to that scene ..try www.dfwminis.comyou will get tons of feedback concerning slamming the truck
i have a McGaughy's 2/4 drop on mine as well as the SRT-10 22"...handling wise it's amazing and is even better if you had a rear sway bar...i've had some problems with mine that i don't think other people have, but in the area i lived when i lowered it we have no shops that specialize in that sort of thing so everything i did was just a trial and error sort of thing lol...i love the way my truck sits and i've gotten tons of compliments about it...so take a look at my truck and see if that's the look your going for....good luck
Thanks Hemiyellow.
Looks real good, I like the color too.Did you have to get it re-calibrated??I don't do the "slammed" look I just want a better handling and performing truck. I'm here in the catpan and only can dream of what I want to do to my "Brandie"when I get back. Right now I have the chrome side steps and the bed rails but I want to smooth it out I think and get rid of them.I got them for my wife to get in and out of the truck with I'm planning on doing a Rhino/Linex spray in liner too. So did you go with a rear sway bar or did you have problems with yours, what were they and how did you fix it?? I have the stock 17" aluminum wheels wth p265/45 Fusion tires great handling but doesn't fill in the wheel well liked I want too. Again thanks.

yeah you will have to have the tire size re-programmed if you switch to 20's...problems i've had with mine haha umm where do i start....
1. had to cut stock pass front spring out cause couldn't compress it enough to get it out
2. tore up pinion seal because the pinion angle was too high (didn't really think about it when i lowered it)
3. still out of alignment, got it as close to specs as i could (not enough room to make any more adjustments, i believe there is a camber/caster kit available somewhere for our trucks)
4. rear axle hits frame when going over bumps (no longer does this since i have rear air bag assist now)
5. bad driveline vibration at around 70+ MPH (need to get shims put in and new driveshaft made)
6. burnt up rear diff (not enough air getting under truck to cool it off, solved this by reloacting spare tire to the bed and putting on a Mag-Hytech diff cover with Amsoil 75W-110 fluid)
7. Had to cut exhaust off because leaf spring would have hit it after got the truck on the ground
And i think thats it, or at least all i can think of right at the moment...i'm sure i'll think of more later lol
