fan clutch help now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Best way is dynamite!
You need to get a spanner which will allow you to hold the water pump pulley still while you rotate the water pump nut CCW. Some folks rig up a metal strap or something to hold a pin in the pump pulley, but save yourself the aggravation. If the truck is still driveable, go to NAPA or Advance Auto. The spanner probably isn't terribly expensive. I had this same problem when changing to my e-fan. I wrestled with it for a couple of hours and gave up. I could not get the water pump pulley nut off. Finally went to a shop and they had it off in no time. There is no substitute for the proper tools. Good luck.

Update -- I checked around a bit today... Advance Auto Parts doesn't sell the spanner. They have a kit of tools you can buy and then return for a full refund. Here it's $60. NAPA didn't even know what I was talking about. That's about the fifth time I've tried to buy something at NAPA where they had no idea what I was talking about.
That is weird, the NAPA here, is really good. Some realy car guys, and a body guy own it though..
But yeah, get yourself a spanner, you should be able to find one somewhere for about 20 bucks, saves you about 3 million hours of labor

A really big wrench and a hammer. And no, I'm not kidding. Put the wrench on, hit the end with the hammer. The clutch will slip, but it does work. Just reposition the wrench and keep going. That's how I got mine off. Took about 10 good hits.
I use an air chisel. A couple 2 second bursts and it looesens right up without hardly any damage to the nut. I would buy a spanner wrench if I could find one. There is no substitution for the right tool.
I have one of these coming. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...sou0b402895-20Wish I'd had it when I installed my e-fan. Would've paid for itself then.

Someone should start passing one around. We do this a lot on a Jeep forum. We'll pass tools we'll maybe only use once or twice and just keep it in circulation. Just start a thread for specialty tools and post whenever you need the tool. All you pay for is the shipping. It'll save everyone money.
