I have a drop in bed liner but i dont have anything covering the bed rails. I was thinking about putting herculiner on them myself. Do you think this would hold up and look good?

You will get very mixed reviews on that here, i was looking at the same thing.

I know that you need to wash it a little more cause it tends to fade. Some say it chips, some say it;s bulletproof

Dont have a clue, it would be enough to justify spending the 450-550 and just having the whole bed though. Most of what they ding you is to mask off the truck, wich they will have to do for the rails, it will take them about 5 more minutes to do the whole bed
