Damn people that can't park..
when we bought our commander (march '06) i had my 96 GMC that was already banged up from the previous owner. all the times i went to our local grocery store i never had a problem with anyone hitting it. a month after buying the commander i come out of the same store to notice a big scuff mark and cracked paint on the RR fender flare. got it fixed when the weedwacker fell from the hook and dented the door[:@].
i park my ram at the far end of the lots. i need the exercise anyway.

People just do not have respect for someone else’s vehicle today. They just open the car door until it is wide open or it hits your door. Or as in your case, the bumper rub down the side of your truck. Unbelievable people. Red
That sux!! I hate that sh*t! No note or anything, huh? Figures. People suck!! That's why I try to park away from all those asses. No one cares about your sh*t as much as you do. They were, probably, driving a "lowered" 4x4 Escalade with 35"s, painted Pearl Champagne...those guys are assh*les!

Just read a great retribution story over here in the UK.
Somebody did just that. They hit someone in a car park whilst "trying" to park.
The guy who was hit, got the tapes.
They got the license number and the police got involved.
The woman (surprise surprise LOL), who did the damage, went to court, got a massive fine plus.......6 penalty points on her license.
When you consider 12 points and your banned depending on if your a new driver or not (they are banned at 6), that's half her allowance gone before being forced off the road. thats quite asignificant penalty.
We need more of this to stop these assh*les doing this kinda stuff!
Sorry for you and your truck.
It's some nasty Christmas present??????
All the best,
Al.

Ouch! Sorry to hear.
I would suggest going to security at the theater and asking to view their tapes. They probably have security cameras outside. If you're lucky you'll be able to get that person's license plate number.
If you're willing to walk, I'd suggest parking in the back of the lot and so long as it's not packed take up two spots.

But yeah, if you can catch it on tape, that driver should not only pay for the damages, but also receive additional fines and whatnot for not leaving a note or anything.
My girlfriend gets a little tired of all the walking, but I park as far away as possible. Plus, it makes it easier to get in and out of parking spots, especially this time of year!!
everyone i ever bring along to the mall or any shopping center always complains of the walk but at the least i wil park near one of those grass island really clos to it so i no atleast one side is protected. buti still have a dent on the top of my fender about a foot back from the head light. its not big but it pisses me of that something had to have come down and hit it not from the side.
a few years ago my wife went with her friend to some craft show or something. anyway, the friends husband is a cop. she was driving his brand new about 1996 ram 2500 V-10 4x4. she tried to park in a narrow spot and my wife told her she couldn't fit. she tried anyway. after hitting the side of the car next to her she decided she better go find another spot. no note or anything. my wife questioned her but she wouldn't give.
I am very carefull when opening my doors and show other peoples cars some respect when getting out so if I have the chance I will find the nicest car in the parking lot and park near it or take up 2 spots next to it. When I first got it I would park in 4 spots and if I had my work cones with me I'd spread them out too, but even with all of that you stil have the one person who parks inches awayfrom you and slams their door open. I was parked at the storein my truck a while back in a spot that had no one anywhere near it and there were a ton of spots open in the front of the storewaiting for the wife to get done shopping (I hate shopping) and this little old fart and his wife pull up and park next to me, so close that there was maybe 6" betweenthe passanger side door and my drivers side doorso when she opened her door I reached out and held it shut. Of corse the old fart got out and was yelling at me, and I simply called him over and told him that there was no way his fat *** wife could get out in such a small space and if she did and even bumped my door I would take out my tow rope and drag their car away. He got back in and drove off and pulled up next some other unfortunate car and took the side out, litterally. From the driver side tail light to his mirror the guy just pulled in and parked, he got out and his wife climbed out the driver side and they went in to go shopping. So it doesn't matter where you park or where you think is "safe" anymore because someone will always park next you,
Threatening to drag the car away...awesome. As others mentioned, parking far away doesn't always work either. A woman here at work always parks way, way out and never next to another car when possible, never next to a 2 door, etc. She has added: never at a low spot of a parking lot. Here's why. Recently, she went to Lowe's, parked way out, and when she came out, there was a car against hers that had hit it. Apparently the dolt in the other car had a stick and forgot to either leave it in gear or set the brake, so the car rolled down the parking lot grade and right into her car. When the guy finally came back to the car after shopping, she showed him what happened and he was like "Are you sure?" Uh, yeah guy, I didn't push your car there. These kinda stories are endless. Bottom line, people suck and have no respect for anybody else's stuff...
