MPG -- frist trip!
I have had my truck now about 6 months, but have not got a chance to see my mpg on the open road. So this last week I loaded up the family and went to Gatlinburg, Tn. The way up was 269 miles, and I got 17.4 mpg. The trip back home was 274 miles, and I got 16.9 mpg, there was alot of wind on the way back home. Does this sound right? I thought it would be some better than that, because around home I get 15 to 16 mpg. On this trip I held my speedaround 70 to 75, also I got all this with a pen and paper not the computer, the computer was telling me I was getting 21 mpg. Tell me what you think![sm=feedback.gif]
If you are really trying to watch your fuel consumption, many would tell you that driving a bit slower, say 65, instead of 70 to 75, would increase your MPG. Otherwise, considering your truck and load, probably the MPG is about normal, some have not done as good.
My MPG has dropped the last month on my truck. I have made a few trips to one place and averaged at least 17.5 to 18.3 MPG and the last 2 trips I made to the same place averaged 16.5 to 16.7. Never drove over 70. I guess it has to do with the winter fuel blend being made now?

2 lane highway @ 55 = 12.8 mpg
4 lane highway @ 65 = maybe 14 mpg if I am lucky. However that is a short (8 mile) stretch. Like to see what it will do on a long trip.
My computer seems to be within a 0.10 of hand calcs. (?)
Been pretty happy with it for a 3/4 ton.

I wish I got that on the hwy.
Also I would imagine going through Tn. that you were going up and down some hills - which will effect you mpg considerably.
