Hey, experts?

Isn't the 08 and the 07 basically the same truck? If I buy replacement tail lights for an 07 they should work on the 08?

thoughts?

 

I wouldn't claim to be an expert, but I'm not aware of any changes in taillights between the '07's and '08's.

 

I made a post on another Dodge Truck forum back when the '07s hit the market about how I thought the headlights on the '06s were an ugly change from the previous models until I saw those absolutely hideous tail lights on the '07s.
Well man, you'd have thought I called the Pope a child molesting *** in the middle of the Vatican! I got slammed by anybody and everybody. ******** calling me jealous because I had an '04, people telling me I had no taste, etc.

I'm freakin glad at least one other person thinks those friggin things are eye sores. Looks like somebody snatched them tail lights off of a 1959 Caddy...

 

lol , i have an '04. love everything about it..
the new ones 06-08,, i love the grille and all, but the headlights of the 06's are fugly, but the 07's and 08's are looking better

as the tailights go, i like the 06's, same as the 02-05 ones, but the 07's dakota/durango style lights, are ugly to me,, but to each there own... i guess

anyways, im not sure if u can change them to prior years, i dont see why not...even most of the aftermarkter ones to me are not thats nice looking....

lights are hard to say, sometimes stock, or taking out the yellow out of the front makes it look better...but its your truck man, do what u want with it...

I said the same thing when the '06's were introduced. I said (and still contend) that I'm glad I got my '05 before it was too late. At the time it was still a split crowd, though now I get a lot more of the "you're just jealous you have an old truck" schtick. I've come around, a bit, to the newer front ends, but I want to vomit when I see the Chevy tail lights on them.

 

From what I've read, the older tails will work but require a little work with the mounting points and wiring layout. When my grandfather picks up an 08, I'll install my 03 tails (or aftermarket LEDs) asap. I hate the retro-rocket "we gotta do something to change it so it might as well be this" style.

I missed that debate, or i would have been on your side buddy, those 07-current tailights are horendous.

 

yeah, i dont really like the 07+ tailights too. i have an 07 too. i liked the 06 tail lights, but i love the new 07+ headlights waaaaaaaay better than the pre-07.

 

i have a 06 ram 1500 qc if you wanted to switch your 08 lights for the flat 06 version let me know

 

Probably cheaper to get an aftermarket set of lights.
