CAI & EGR noise...is it a pandemic?
OK...I maybe the only one out there who is experiencing this issue…but I would like to hear from everyone…
For those of you out there who have installed an aftermarket CAI I want to know if you are experiencing the exhaust leak / ping noise that I am having resonate through my aftermarket CAI. I currently have a K&N 77 series intake. It is my understanding that most 05-08’s with an aluminum tube CAI will experience this.
There are two fixes that I am aware of…first being disconnect EGR valve but live with a check engine light…and possible engine damage. Second being purchase a EGR Valve Baffle…which I am unsure of its long term effects….or you could just live with it…and hope that at some point our buddies at Mopar will come up with a fix….
Please post what CAI your truck is sporting

kvsmith2004: I have no ping......K&N FIPK Intake, its a plastic tube I dont know how much of a diff that would make...
I have an 04 4.7 w/ a custom made aluminum intake. No ping, but it does "gasp" as some on here put it, thats the reason I put other. Unfortunatly, I'm not one of the "educated" ones who'll be able to tell you about your specific problem. Good luck
I do not have an intake but this issue has been addressed before. Those with the metal intake tubes are much louder than the plastic ones. I have got no idea why but I have heard this many times. Hope this helps....
Using the AFE High Breather set-up; excellent quality and performance but does not perform the miracles that other CAI's"seem" to claim.
The benefit of not having ANYuseless additional noise was an aspect that I appreciated with this choice and I've been usingit successfully since 11/06'.
The stock Hemi airintakesystem is really quite good for mostpeople but we all like the freedom to experiment and choose where we want tospend our $$$'s!

They all amplify the EGR to some degree, you just usually don't hear it over the exhaust with the plastic tubes. I have the K&N 77Series as well, and yes that nice shiny steel tube amplifies the hell out of the EGR. The addition of LT Headers kinda makes it a little harder to hear now though...
