You have no idea!! Couldnt sleep last night, thats when you know you care way too much about your truck.

As a side note, I have nothing against Flowmasters, was actually very close to getting the 50 Series HD instead of the Magnaflow. The main reason I went with the Mag is because I wanted more of a deep, heartier sound rather than an obnoxious cry. I think the Flows sound nice, but it seems you cannot get rid of the sound so to speak. I want my truck to be bearable at idle but when Iget onit, it moans and groans and lets you hear that HEMI ROAR! From my research it seems like the FM doesnt really have that "calm" idle I was looking for. And also, my dad has dual Flowmaster 40's on his 1971 Plymouth GTX with the 440 in it and he recommended I try the Magnaflows (probably more for his benefit rather than mine, haha).

Either way, I CANT WAIT FOR WEDNESDAY!

 

Just a thought your dad probably has the original 40 series on his 71 plymouth, from what I have read on here and heard elsewhere the Super 40 sounds much different than the original 40 series.I am sure you will be happy with the Magnaflow. You better post some pics up when its done. lol

 

I think you're right Rob, but I still didnt even want to chance it. I think I will like the Mag. I will post up some pics on wednesday evening

 

I have a few pictures in my gallery if it helps with your decision. I installed mine myself in just over an hour. It would have taken longer but the dog was helping.

I have the 50HD and it is probably even a little more restrictive than stock, but it sounds great, especially with the K&N CAI and LT Headers!!! I actually don't mind the little restriction as I losta smidge oflow end torque when I did the headers (gained a boatload of mid & high HP though!) that I actually went back and re-welded the cats back into the system. I'd say the magnaflow has the better gains by far, but I'd shudder to think how much low end torque I'd have lost with a magnaflow and no cats after I did the headers.

 

2 cents...I love my Magnaflow set-up. I have never had nor know a Hemi owner w/ a Flowmaster. What I like about Magnaflow is it sounds SICK, when you want it to and is quiet at an idle. It deceives people and I like that. Sounds like if you want to blow people's doors off, then Flowmaster is the set-up. I don't like the "restrictive" argument, though. Restrictive and Hemi don't sound right together.

People over use the term "back pressure"...there's more then enough back pressure using the stock cats and manifolds to keepmost of your low end torque. Back pressure really comes into play with long tubes, ORY and bigger piping....then you can talk to me about the muffler effecting back pressure. Even then you'll get a good scavenging effect from the headers..

On a otherwise stock exhaust system flowmasters are not the best choice...IMO of course.

 

Super 40's are really loud...the 50 series seems a little mellower. I almost bought the 50 HD's because they sound sooo good but I just couldn't do it...plus with the MDS I need something a little quieter.

 

I never once said there wasn't, I was sipmly explaining what the different designs of muffler provide as far HP and toque gains. And it is PROVEN that you do lose ever so much BACK PRESSURE when you go with ANY type of strait thru design exhaust system. Hell, I even stated that with my system I was leavin everything from the muffler up the same to keep the back pressure.
