I just purchased a 2003 Ram 2500 regular cab.

I am going to mount a Western MVP Vee plow on it.

What exactly is in the Snow Plow Prep Package and how can I tell if I have any of this on the truck.

I have read about upgraded control arms and other suspension goodies that may be in the package, but cannot find and info about the specific equipment included or how to identify the components.

Well I feel that there are a lot of myths out there regarding the plow prep package. The long and the short of it is that it only includes a:
Larger Alternator 160 amps I believe
Larger Battery 750 I believe
Transfer Case Skid Plate
& Tow Hooks delete

I could be wrong, but as far as Dodge's website that is all that is historically listed under the plow prep package. I would suggest writing Dodge customer assistance and provide them with your vin number. They will send back an email with a complete build sheet on your truck. If you have plow prep on there then you will know.

Yeah, it all depends on the year, how it was orderd.

I have had prep packages be electrical and skid plates and thats it, or have them have stiffer springs, lower gears, tranny coolers, everything. better just get a build sheet

I know my truck has it... it's good to have even if you dont plow...

 

Dont call dodge, do a search on here, there is few posts about it. You just email them your vin number and they email you a build sheet back. Only took about 3 days to get mine

 

I already did a search and did not find anything definitive about the package. Maybe I did not do the search properly?

 

I have the plow prep package and still have the 136 amp alternator. I run an BOSS 8' Straight Blade and in my opinion the most important item to have is a trans cooler, which comes with the tow package.

 

I have the tranny cooler and the power steering cooler that came with the the truck. Probably the tow package.

I e-mailed Dodge today and asked for the build sheet so I can find out what equipment the truck has.

I also plan on installing the Transgo shift kit and a Mag Hytek deep tranny pan.
