Default Mileage Help

Hey new to forum, from Edmonton Alberta Canada. Just traded my 01 1500 Qcab 4X4 318 for an 07 1500 Mega Cab 4X4 5.7 HEMI. Damn what a nice truck, I will write later about some of the Pro's and Con's between the two trucks.

For now can some one help my calculate my mileage and give me the formuls.

1115 KM 190 L Gas. Please remember this is Canadian. This was all highway driving 60 mph, many many hills/mountains and some in 4X4.

1064 KM 171 L Gas. Same rte just a little more cruise control, was breaking it in the first time so I was off and on the throttle for the first 500 KM. Still about 200-300 KM in 4X4.

Thanks Chris

divide total amount of miles or kilometers by the total amout of fuel used.. 1064/171=6.22 kilometers per a liter. 1115/190=5.88 kilometers per a liter. If you were wondering how to convert this to MPGs I have no idea but there is probably some online conversion calc.

Thats what I am looking for, is how to convert it to US miles per Gallon so I can evenly compare with most people on this board.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You'll get the better mileage due to more dipacement doing roughly the same job. I'm getting about 14-15 with my 4.7, but the again I only have a RCSB, so IMO the HEMI would be too much engine for that chassi. I'd have more speeding tickets than I already do, plus they didn't sell a HEMI 5spd 1500, ad dodge hasn't had the best of track records with their autos, someone will prolly bash me for that one, don't know what the roads are like up there, but cruise is only a help on flat ground, if you're driving through rolling hills or mountains it'll eat your MPG's to hell. Good luck with your new truck congrats on the upgrade.

http://www.calculatenow.biz/conversions/consumption.php

I hope you have fun with your new truck

5.7 engine was said to be 8 to 12% more fuel efficient than the older 5.9V8
and I am guessing that the 5.2V8 was about 6% more efficient than the 5.9

{5.2V8 has slightly higher compression ratio and less internal friction from smaller main bearings and shorter crankshaft stroke)
