Qcab vs Mega cab
Just bough my 07 Mega Cab 1500 5.7 Hemi4X4. Had a few questions,
Whats the difference between a QCab and a Mega cab in drive train. The reason I ask is that the Mega has a solid front axle and an 8 bolt pattern rim, both from the 2500 I think. Are there any other differences, IE tranny?
The reason I ask is that if it has 2500 axles and the tranny is no different and the motoer is the same why the heck is it a 1500, did they put softer springs on it??
Thanks Chris

The MegaCab is the same truck as a 2500 QC LB, with a Short Bed, and the Mega Cab Installed.
Heavy Duty (2500's) With Hemi's Don't get MDS.
I assume they used a 2500 frame to keep the towing capacity up with the extra weight of the cab and people/things you will stuff inside it.
The Towing Capacity is less on a MegaCab than a 2500 QC, again because of the weight of the cab, and the people/things you will stuff inside it.
Its an awesome truck, Its a monster. I love driving it. I just wish it got better MPG, so I could afford to drive it. 9-11mpg isn't cuttin it. If I knew then, what I know now I would have bought a 5.9L CTD MegaCab and got 14-20~ MPG, with more towing capacity.

I am also looking at buying a Mega Cab. I talked with my service department about a Mega Cab that is at another dealer. The Mega Cab 1500 is exactly the same as a 2500 Mega Cab except for the spring rates front and rear. The 1500 has a SLIGHTLY softer spring rate than the 2500 MC. I asked in order to find out what changes I would have to make to have a 2500. It is simply a spring change. Of course the door sticker gives tow rating for the 1500 and that cannot be changed. The 2500 has an option for CTD, which of course has a higher spring rate than the 2500 HEMI. Oh yes the 1500 MC HEMI has MDS wheras the 2500 MC HEMI does not. I thought there may be an axle difference but there is not.
