IMO a Cobra radio and Wilson 1000 antena is the best combo, and depending on mounting poit you might have to extend your power wire. Another pice of ad vice is buy a remote speaker, other wise with the windows down you might not be able to hear it.

here's my cobra mounted, galaxy 66 is in the shop, k 40 trunk mount on the hood. wilson 1000 is a better ant. 102 inch whip on my 95 and will have one on the 06 before long. after all the 102 whip is what cb's were originaly made to run on and after much testing, the best. for best over all get a headache rack or build a bracket center of the bed rightbehind the cab. mount a 102 there cab high. remember the sheet metal of the truck acts as a ground plane and draws the signal in the direction of the most sheet metal.my 102 is bumper mounted as i park under a carport but being mounted there i transmit better with the nose of the vehicle pointed towards the people i'm talking to. if flexability is not a issue go with the predator 10k ant. u can usally find them at truck stops. don't go to radio shack or best buy for radio,go to a truck stop. there is usally a radio repair shop around them.cobra ok,galaxy better, connex 3300 if u want to go all out.have the radio shop peak and tune the radio for u as a stock radio only 4 watts, except for connex usally higher. if u want to run a linear amp to boost power have the radio tuned to the linear amp.my 06 does 450 watts on a 4 pill linear. have a palomar 900 in my 95.had to buy a diesel batt tray and mount a second batt as 1 could not run the linear.makes 650 to 1000 watts depending on what radio i have in the truck. u can hold a 48 inch flouresent buld up to the ant and i can light it when i key the mike! and people worry about cell phones giving them brain cancer!lol but it's all in what u want to do. we use them out hunting and when traveling in a group. have base stations at home and natter around town on the cb. have parties called cb breaks, comes from saying 'breah channel' when u want to cut in and talk,or u may know this stuff already in which case i'll shut up!lol

nothing wrong with that or ur choice but we may talk 20 miles hill top to hill top, i've got hawaii when it raining, the pacific makes a great ground plane when the skip is rolling, and firesticks are no good for that use. high power makes em brittle also. i'm not dishin ur stuff or set up i'm just saying for xtreme use it's not the best choice.ok?
