The best way is to use a speaker to RCA step down converter. I think you can get them at Best Buy for around $20-30. Then connect to the left and right speaker out coming from the radio. Don't disconnect the speakers though. Just run a jumper from behind the radio. A easy way to figure out what wires are what is to buy an aftermarket wireing adapter for adding a radio to factory wiring. They should be with the stepdown converters and dash kits. You will not use the wiring adapter to connect anything but you can follow the color code to find out what the speakers are. Then use a "T" Tap ( like a scotch lock) on the factory wiring. This way you will not have to cut any of the factory wires. You will need to adjust the step down to match the power output of your head unit. Don't use it as a way to get more volume as this will just add noise. You will have to play with the amp and step down gains to get it right. I would turn the amp gain around half way with the step down all the way down. Then I would bring the gains up evenly with respect to the left and right gains of the step down. Turn the radio up to right before your factory speakers start to distort about 3/4 volume before you adjust the sub as it will not allow you hear your factory speakers dying. The rest is power and ground. Make sure that you run power from the battery with a fuse nor more than 18" from the battery. I would use 8 guage wire. Make the ground only a couple feet. Make sure you clean the paint off of your ground point. YOU MUST HAVE A GOOD CLEAN GROUND! If your amp is 1000w or more I would run 4 guage wire which will cost you.
Good Luck. Hope this helps.

What story said.....

Simply it piggy backs to your existing speaker wiring to allow you to run RCA cables to your deck. I think it is called a RCA low pass filter kit at some places too.

No infinity sound system... and its just a temporary thing.. to see if i like having subs or not... lol i dont really listen to rap or anything so we were gonna throw it in for a month or so and if i liked it i would order a system.... but.. i heard that i could just tap into the speaker wire from my rear left speaker and run that to the input of the amp... is that true?

If you have the connector that goes to that high level socket, you can simply splice into the stock speaker outputs either at the back of the head unit, or at the speakers (If the speakers are closer). Since this is going for a sub though, you don't really need both sides of the output, you can run the L and R sides off the same input.
