Yeah, you really should give it a chance first. Then if you don't ever adjust to it, then you should get that muffler off of there and return it back to Flowmaster before it's too late. Get the 50 series if you are concerned with the amount of interior noise, just remember, it will not bark as good as that 40 series muffler outside. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Super 40 has less interior resonance than the Original 40 though, so maybe try that out? Either way, try to stick it out with your current investment, and if you think it's going to be a headache (no pun intended) then do the Super 40, or the 50 series!

You might want to give Magnaflow a try...it's not loud but has a good tone. It does get a little louder as it "breaks in" from the packing absorbing moisture, but it's still quiet.

I had a pair of Super 40's on my 69 Chevelle SS 396/375. I sold the car a year ago for my boat. The boat has a pairof Corsa thru hulls on a 454/330.

The Chevelle obviously was not a daily driver but the Super 40's have a bit less interior drone compared to the standard 40's. For even quieter interior go with the Delta Flow 40, or a 50 series.

I had a 40 series on my 99' V6 Dakota with a set of duals directly out the back.I was dating the wife at the time, she absolutely hated it. The drone around cruise (2000RPM) could drive you mad. It didn't seem to stop her from marrying me???

Flowmaster wants your business, if you are unhappy with your muffler selection contact them. When I put mufflers on the Chevelle I could not decide on 40's or Super 40's. I called customer service and and they would exchange the mufflers if I was not satisified. I had 30 days from the date of purchase/installation to try the Super 40's. I wound up loving them and did not need an exchange. They are great people, just give em a call.

also there are 3 different 50 series mufflers. 50 hd,50 delta, 50 suv loudest to quietest. my 50suv sounds great on take off, good deep tone, and hardly any drone at speed.

I love my Mag. Got a nice growl on the outside and is only barely audible on the inside. Unless I lean into it or down shift, then she really lights up. If you want your truck to be loud, it's going to be loud outside and inside.

50 HD is just about right, a nice deep rumble when you are on the gas and you can still hear the radio and talk ina normal voice when you're not. Add a CAI and LT Headers though, and you have to speak up a little.
