Default 2008 V6 Low Down?

Alright, Im thinking of buying an 08 v6 ram with the 6spd. I was kinda wondering how these little engines hold up under normal conditions. I am spoiled by my 04 cummins but we need a knock around truck for my business. I can getregular cab for 15k brand new here in SC. Bottom line.... Are they depenable?

The 3.7 is a tough little motor, I have it in my 06 dakota and it is very stout for its low HP numbers (210), but it puts out somewhere around 235 ft lbs of torque. If you are looking for gas mileage, look somewhere else because in a midsize truck you will only get 14 if you are lucky. Otherwise, GO FOR IT!

Don't waste you'r money get at least the 4.6 they get about he same MPG and not so under powered.

I have a 3.7 V-6 in mine I can say it was one of the biggest mistakes I made in a long time buying a Truck I wished I read this Dodge truck Fourm before I gotten mine Love the Truck Hate the 3.7 Wish I gotten the HEMI instead or at least the 4.6 V-8.

I just waiting to pay this Truck off before I get anouther one Never again a V-6 in a full size truck I knew better at the time but I was looking at the MPG Skicker on the Window They lie if you are lucky 17 to 18 HWY 13 to14 City the 4.6 gets about the same better on the HWY than the 3.7.

The reason I have not traded in I don't want tobury whatI am upside downthe difffrence in to the new truck the 3.7 resale value Stinks mite as well wait it out mabe by the time I can get rid of this truck they will have Employee Pricing once again with life time warrenty.

If the truck did not have the $9000.00 off employee pricingwhen I purchased it Iwould be srcewed.

Bottom line is don't expect too much other than getting it a lot cheaper than a 4.7 or Hemi. I use my 06 V6 6speed for what you say you will use it for and picking up some supplies for my pizzeria once a week. Like the truck; it is my second Ram std bed/cab V6 stick and they are quite reliable. My 03 still had its orig Michelins and brakes (30-40% left on front!) when I sold it at 49k miles. My 06 averages 17.5-18.5 with a lot of freeway at 65-70. If you like to rip around, drive fast on the freeway or tow, you won't like it. Otherwise it is a nice cruiser if you get it CHEAP. I paid $12,995+T&L on one of the Loss leader ads.

Yeah get a 4.7 I just got one 1 week ago its got decent power! Just fine by me ..

I think with the engine to weight ratio you would get worse MPG with a V6 ram

Invoice price for a 4.7 isless than $1000. Less than 25$ a month on the average loan payment. Gas mileage is pretty similar, but thats a 100 hp and 95 ft-lbs difference.

I love my 4.7 6-spd. I can't imagine how much nicer the new 4.7 is.

The 3.7 is ok for around town flat roads type stuff but it takes more to get it rolling and going up hills from low speeds sucks My sister house you have to climb a good size hill to get to it sure glad I don't go there much she lives aways away from me.

I have get on it hard and wind it out to get up it no fun the motor is working hard to get up the hill.

My mom's 4 banger honda car climbs better than this truck.

Get the 4.6 you be a lot happyer and get same or better MPG as long as you keep you'r foot out of it Thats one of the down falls of the 3.7 you foot has to be in most of the time.

If you get the 3.7 make sure it has the low gears in it I heard it helps.

I just dont want to see someone else make the same mistake I did buying the 3.7 for MPG and not getting it and beening very under powered to boot.

Oh yea It's a good motor it's a 4.6 V-8 with 2 cylinders cut off.

Where you buying your ram??? I'm from Greenwood, not too far down the road from ya. Best deal I could find was here at home. Anyway, I wouldn't go for the V6, big truck, little engine. It may be a workhorse for all I know, however a little engine toting a heavy truck has got to take a tole on it. I would worry about dependability down the road, but then again, there's not too many complaints in the V6 section. Personally, I'd go with the 4.7, just a little more pep in it's step, and better towing capabilities, just in case you need it. Not to mention the same, or better, gas mileage. Just my .02
