Dieseldoc1,
Was only doing 40 or 50mph. Mine is also limited to around 110 and think you will find that most people on here reakon they get between 105 and 120mph before the speedo limiter kicks in. It was just like the rev limiter had cut in, ie when sat in neutural and you rev it the engine won't go above 4000rpm.

I don't think its a fuel problem as once i switched off the engine and then restarted it five mins later everything was fine and has been ever since, seems more likely to be an electrical problem (gremlin) somewhere.

Try this

Remove your gas cap, get in, start it, get on a "safe" roadand punch it. I know what you are thinking, WTF?? Just give it a try. If it works then I get paid a $80 diagnostic fee.

Report back with the results.

I thought doing that will throw a code back at you. Actually I've heard that from alot of people who have left the gas cap off and started their vehicle.....But hey if it works then it works....

Speaking of codes have you checked to see if yours has thrown any?

Will not throw a code unless you leave it off for a extended period.

Thanks for the info, although since putting this post up it hasn't done it again. Has only happend once and so not sure if i will be able to prove anything by removing the gas cap now. Out of interest, if it does it again and i remove the cap, what does it prove?
Thanks again to all that have posted on this.
David

Your cap is bad or not one correctly. I had the same thing happen to me after buying an aftermarket cap. Bought a Mopar no issues.

Your situation sounds similar however yours staying high sounds to me like either the throttle position sensor or the idle air control.

Edit: could be a cracked throttle body as well. I've seen those plastic pieces of junk get hung up a lot due to that.

Did you ever find out what was wrong?? I'm experiencing this too now. It seems it may be something in the valve body like the governor solenoid.
