lifting my 02 ram
Hey guys, I really want to do this soon and my question is...
How can I get a really nice lift (about 6"+) for a reasonable price?
What does everyone do? I'm new to trucking and I need some good pointers. Thanks
keep in mind it's for a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd short bed quad cab

would that be the only thing I would need? Or are there other parts I need to get to compensate for that?
I also see people combining lift kits and body lifts... is that a possibility? Basically I trying to get the highest setup with using no more than $1500 w/o labor.

You are gonna pay $1500 minimum for a 6" lift kit and DOES NOT include labor. That would get you into maybe a Fabtec that is only gonna clear 35s as the inexpensive Fab Tec 6" really only nets you about 5.5". You'd have to add a body lift for your 37s which would run you another $375-$400, plus more labor.
To clear 37s with just a suspension lift you are gonna have to look into a Skyjacker 6" kit which would cost you about $1800 with rear blocks or about $2300 with rear leafs (a better setup) again, this does not include labor.
For labor, figure 2 guys and about 8 hours, so I'm gonna say about another $800-$900.
Would put you at least double your budget, and you haven't bought the tires or wheels yet.
If cost is a consideration and this is only for looks, then maybe think about a level kit ($200) and a 3" Body Lift ($400), about 4-6 hours labor for one tech. ($300-$400) for a total of about $900-$1000 and then maybe some nice A/T 35" tires. This would give you around 4.5"-5" of total lift and a very nice look...

yea... strictly for looks... not gonna be cheap... plus 37's could hurt these front ends..

Well I have a Pro comp lift (they said it would be 6", but more like 5") and a 3" body lift to clear 37's. And with lift kits it seams like you get what you pay for the cheaper the lift the bumper the ride
IFS is a lot weaker than a solid axle... they are made for a more comfortable ride... 37" tires is a lot of weight and a lot for these trucks to handle... it may cause lots of problems down the road... I believe atlanticblueram has been having problems in the front end recently...
