Intake-K&N vs True Flow
Sorry for the newb question but are the K&N FIPK and the True Flow XDI intake bacically the same thing as far as function goes? What kind of performance or mileage can I expect on my 2004 QC 4.7?
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot!
I honestly don't think one well made, name brand CAI significantly performs better than another, as long as it is a true CAI and replaces the stock box, tube and baffle over the throttle body. Some say "X" brand has a better filter than "Y" brand, and maybe so, but I don't think enough to see a difference.
I have the K&N, but basically because I got a real good deal and because I've used their drop in filters with very good results for years in everything from trucks & SUVs to ATVs.
You are not going to see any big results with a CAI alone, but they are enhanced by and work very well with other mods such as cat back exhausts and headers...

i love my trueflow and in my research that is wat came out on top... i also got a great deal... but as hammer said... a lot of people would say x brand is better than y brand but even so any differences would prolly be pretty small..
Thanks for the replies guys. I wasn't expecting a huge increase in power or anything, but I was just curious as what others have seen. The only other mod as of now is a magna flow muffler.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
my trueflow XDI intake didnt help as much hp as it did with low end torque.....I mean i only have a v6 so it's already way underpowered to begin with, but it did help some....I was considering a K&N but after reading on the forums, a lot of guys seem to have enjoyed the trueflow more..
