some members here with syn oils go up to 7500 miles before an oil change, some go higher but change the oil filters every 3k and add 1 quart of oil. If you do go to any major syn oil website, they all talk about the longer drain intervals. Plus what has been written above by me doesn't come from my brain but its been taken and quoted from a major oils company.

I've been using synthetic blendfor the last 5-6 years and swear by it, I may switch to Royal Purple full synthetic next or stick with Castrol. I first did it on a return trip from NY to AZ andin my 1996 Ram 2500 with a V-10 and I saw an increase of about 6 miles or more per gal. NowI run Castrol Synthetic Blend in my "Brandie".

It's been 4000 + because it just got away from us, I'm here in the catpan for a while so my wife took it to Jiffy lube (I know but I'm not there to do it) and she gets the Signature oil change thinking that its the"Good" one but it's just a code word for charge alot of $$. All said and done and she ends up paying $79 + for6 qrts of oil and a filter and$10 went to a truckwash too. But $66+ add in the tax and Bam $79.00. Why would it be this much. I did theEl cheapo there before at $25 for my daughters car but no synthetic@ 115,000 miles on it, its too late. Any insight will help. H-

Your daughters "car" probably only took 4 quarts, which is what the oil change probably included. They charged you for syn, plus an extraquart. They also probably charged you more for a "premium" oil filter. And she got the oil change service where they clean the windows, vacuum the car and what not.

But I feel you...I just changed my oil with Royal Purple (7 Qts) and a K&N oil filter for $60 after tax. Granted, I did it myself, but my oil is way more expensive than what Jiffy is using...

I am using Mobil 1 syn. extended performance - it says 15K miles but I will be changing at 7500 - I use it because I figure if it is better for my truck why not do it - when I spread it out over 7500 miles between changes it is no more costly than taking it to the local lube shop and have them do it.
