Default 05 Ram 4.7

Driving to work this morning, engine light comes on...out of the blue. Oil is good, average temp day 70ish, really humid though.

Any ideas on where to start diagnosing? How do I check codes and where do the codes show up?

Codes should come up on your odo display by flipping the key 3 times....don't actually start it just go from off to run.

If there is an Autozone near you, they offer to plug in and read your codes for free.

Hmm-m-m.....an '05 with a 4.7? Well, in the past week I've gotten a P0404 (EGR valve) and a P0700 (transmission control malfunction). Going to the dealer in a few days.

Do the key thing. And do a search for codes on here and you can print out a multi-page document that tells you what the codes mean. On-Off-On-Off-On. Codes display on the odometer, then flash DONE.
