26-34 Gallon Tank Conversion
sounds like it would be a good swap...might have to look into doing this on my ram lol....maybe now i could get within 100 miles of my parents house (600 miles from my house) lol...i'll have to look at some of the 2500's we have at work and get some idears
I'm eyeballing this 2008 Ram for my grandfather and it has the optional 34 gallon fuel tank -- a whopping $75 option.
ORIGINAL: Vintage 1976
Called local Dodge stealership...I mean Dealership today.
They will not do a conversion because it "did not come from the factory like that, and tampering with factory fuel, blah, blah, etc..."
He did look at the schematic, same strap mounts, so I guess I'll be upgrading soon. LOL Thanks guys!

I was at the dealer last night to pick up my truck for the master brake cylinder replacement and got to talking to the service/parts rep. He said they would not do a switch because you would need all the things you listed but it was primarily due to the "emissions ratings" He stated that the fuel lines would have to be switched, the fuel filter upsized, some of the gauges so your your fuel gauge reads correctly and then the whole computer flashing.
Basically - they don't want to be bothered because if it doesn't pass inspections, you run out of gas they would own it. He also added save your money it is tooooo expensive to switch - if you have the option at purchase get it.
my $.02 worth.
Matt
yea i have to go with mopar74 on this one... i dont know if all that work and money is really worth the 8 gallons... I have a 34 gallon tank and i dont even see the point in filling the dang thing... i just keep it around half...
The Computer Reflash I Understand For The Fuel Guage. Not Sure I Understand WhyThey Said It Requires New Fuel Lines and The New Fuel Filter. It's Adding Capacity Not The Flow. Does Anyone Know If The Part Numbers For The 26 Gallon Fuel Pump Differs From The 34? If It's A Deeper Pump I Understand, Can't Imagine They Would Change The Electrical If It Is An Option, or The Fittings. In My Opinion If The Pump Location Changes and Requires Extending The Lines or The Electrical, I WOuldn't Do It.
If The Pump Is In The Same Area In Both Tanks, The Electical Is The Same, I Can't See Why It Would Be An Issue.

I Pulled Those Specs From An Aftermarket (OEM) Style Pump. Shows Pretty Specifically For A Long Bed.

the computer flash i'm not concerned with at all since i can do it here at work....i looked up an 04 1500 with a 5.7 and a 2500 with a 5.7....the 2 part numbers i came up with are 52113589AC (pretty sure it's a 26 gal) and 52113613AC (pretty sure this is the 34 gal)
price for the 26 gal is $459 (EP approx $344.25) and 34 gal is $552 (EP approx $414)...have to wait untill David logs in and have him double check...i'm still learning how to use this parts database here at work lol

Well That Makes Sense If The Pump Is Deeper. See If You Can Pull I Diagram of The Two Tanks.
And As Someone Said Before.. I Imagine The Straps Are More Heavy Duty..
Let Me Know What You COme Up With. I Am Curious Myself Now Wether The Two Pumps Has The Same Connections.
