Default Wheel Backspacing/Offset HELP!!

Hey All,

I know this has been discussed 100 times, I spent about 30 minutes looking threw the search, but couldn't find my answer.

I have talked to about 10 different wheel retailers, and been given soo many different answers...

I have a 2006 Ram 1500 MEGACAB 4x4. So its on the 2500 Frame with 8 x 6.5 Lug. Mine came with the Polished Aluminum wheels, I don't know what the backspacing is?

I've been told Its 6.5" Backspacing, but Also been told its 4.5".

I don't know whom or what to believe, but I want to find my wheels.

I already have the front end Leveled. I plan to put either 18" or 20" wheels, and 35" tires.

I do NOT want my wheels/tires sticking out more than about 1/4" from the wheel wells. I do NOT want to have to buy fender flairs.

The wheel I really like is the Moto Metal 951, but I know they stick out about 3-4" with a -12 offset.

So Depending on how much backspacing/offset I need to get the wheels/tires to sit under the wheel wheels, will help decide which wheels I want to buy. If I do need 6.5" Backspacing, than I only have about 3 choices, but If i only need 4.5" than I have about 100 choices.

The tires I plan to run are the BF Goodrich T/A KO's 285/65/20's, Because the next size I could find in an A/T tire that's 35" tall is a 325, and that is too wide for my taste.

Thanks for the help.
